Meditation Woes

The other night I got a lesson from my best friend on how to meditate. There was more hysterical laughing than meditating and I learned that I have a long way to go before I'll experience any meditative zen. I can't seem to clear my mind and my friend gave me some sound advice on how to work on that. Since I've never really meditated before I have a hard time justifying putting a lot of effort into and using up time I could be spending on other things. So I Googled.

I found an article on Health and Fitness Travel about the benefits of meditation. Their article, 8 Reasons Meditation is Good For Your Health, highlights ways that meditation can improve your life.

The short version, meditation can help:

You feel happier

Reduce stress (I think everyone could benefit from this)

You focus

Improve sleep

Lower blood pressure

Relieve pain

Connect you with others, and

Strengthen your aura (always a good thing, right?)

It's a pretty quick read and I did find the information there helpful enough that I have another 'appointment' this weekend to try again. I'll let you know how that goes.
